CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– The date is set for one of the premier non-conference games of the 2026-27 college basketball season, as reigning Final Four teams Illinois and UConn will meet on Friday, Dec. 4, at the United Center in Chicago. 

All current Illinois Men's Basketball premium and season ticket holders and I FUND members will receive an email next week from the Illinois Ticket Office with the opportunity to order tickets for this anticipated rematch between the Illini and the Huskies. Tickets will go on sale to the general public at a later date.

Illinois and UConn will play for the fourth time in four seasons, and seventh time overall. The programs met twice last season, including the 2026 National Semifinal in Indianapolis, a 71-62 Huskies victory. UConn leads the all-time series, 5-1.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Rachel Kaltwasser has joined Illinois women's golf as Director of Operations, head coach Renee Slone announced on Thursday afternoon. Kaltwasser began at Illinois in August of 2020 and has worked in academic services for the last six years. Her most recent responsibilities as Associate Director of Academic Services included serving as an academic counselor for football, women's basketball, and women's gymnastics.

Paxton resident Tom Meents was inducted into the Monster Jam Hall of Fame over the weekend at the Monster Jam World Finals in Salt Lake City. He won 14 World Finals Championships and is known for his cyclone donuts, and two-wheel driving while driving Maxximum Destruction for 23 years. He enjoyed a 31 year career.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini pitcher Aidan Flinn was named a Freshman All-American by D1Baseball, which was announced on Wednesday morning.

Flinn earned a spot on the D1Baseball Freshman All-America First Team and was the only Big Ten student-athlete to secure Freshman All-America status from D-1 Baseball this season. He has already garnered Freshman All-America honors from Baseball America, NCBWA, and Perfect Game.
