The Buckley Dutchmasters are this year’s Tournament Champions. They beat the Paxton Swedes in a best of 3 series 10-4 on Saturday and 11-7 on Sunday. Ethan Davis got the win on Saturday. Sunday’s game was full of excitement early as the Swedes scored 5 runs in the 1st inning. Buckley came back with 7 runs in the second inning. Andy Davis got the win in game 2 with Trey Van Winkle getting a 4 inning save. The Dutchmasters ended the season on a 20 game winning streak after losing the opening game to Paxton on Memorial day weekend.

(Buckley–jc)  –  The Championship series is set for E I Baseball this coming weekend.  The semi final games of the post season tournament were held in Buckley on Sunday. The regular season champions in the Buckley Dutchmasters beat the Arcola Riders 12 to 2 at Schiewe Field yesterday. The Riders opened the game in the top of the first with 2 runs, but the Dutchmasters scored 4 runs in the bottom of the first and another 4 runs in the bottom of the second. Drake Schrodt had 4 hits  and Evan Regez added three hits for Buckley. Andy Davis was the winning pitcher for Buckley.

The Dutchmasters will take on the Paxton Swedes this coming weekend after the Swedes beat the Royal Giants 1 to nothing in 10 innings in Buckley on Sunday. Paxton’s Dalton Busboom drove in the winning run in the top of the 10th inning as Brett Giese came in for the save for the Swedes. Zach Carr was the winning pitcher for Paxton.
This weekend, the Buckley Dutchmasters and Paxton Swedes will participate in a best of 3 game Championship series. Game one is at Paxton at 2pm on Saturday. On Sunday the final game or games will be in Buckley starting at 1pm

(Chicago-jm) – Next year’s NASCAR race in Chicago could take over a heavily-visited landmark for two weeks. The race is scheduled for July 1 and 2 at Grant Park, but Crain’s Chicago Business is reporting that the Chicago Park District has approved a permit for two weeks worth of racing events. The park district said it is getting proceeds from merchandise, concession and ticket sales from the race.

The Buckley Dutchamasters ended the regular season with a 17 game winning streak as they took a double header from the Royal Giants 4-2 and 6-5.

Boston Celtics legendary center Bill Russell has died at the age of 88. Russell earned 12 All-Star selections, 11 NBA titles and 5 MVP awards in 13 seasons with the Celtics.

NASCAR 

It took an overtime but Tyler Reddick closed out the month of July with his second win in 5 races. Reddick outlasted a push from Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain to earn the win at Indianapolis. Austin Cindric came in second, followed by rookie Harrison Burton, Todd Gilliland and Bubba Wallace.
