(Urbana)-- Fighting Illini Big Man Kofi Cockburn earned another award to start the season. Cockburn was named the Big Ten Preseason player of the year. Kofi last season was the only player in the country to average 15 points, and 9 rebounds per game while shooting 60% or higher. 

 

 

(WPXN)-- The Designated Hitter rule was introduced to American League Baseball in 1973 to combat the decline in offensive production in the League. The DH now could be introduced across the league. It isn’t official as of now, but the DH becoming universal is one of the major topics to be discussed at the MLB winter meeting this offseason. 

 

 

(WPXN)-- The Nascar Cup Series is in the final two races of the season. Driver Kyle Larson has won 8 races this season. He wishes that the Championship race at Phoenix was this week since Larson has struggled at martinsville in his career…

(Chicago)-- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman has stepped down from the position, and Vice President of Hockey Operations Al MacIssac was relieved of his duties on Tuesday. The events stem from a sexual assault alligation in 2010. 

 

(Urbana)-- Fighting Illini QB Art Sitkowski will miss the remainder of the season with a broken arm. Stikowski suffered the season ending injury against Penn State. Brandon Peters is expected to take over the starting spot once again. 

 

(Green Bay)-- The Green Bay Packers have added another Wide Receiver to the COVID-19 List. Allen Lazard tested positive for the virus Tuesday afternoon. WR DaVante Adams tested positive on Monday. 

 

 

(Urbana)-- When Fighting Illini Head Football Coach Bret Bielema took over at the U of I, he told players that no sleeves will be worn saying that it makes the ball more slippery. Bielema backs that theory with a mishap in practice…

(Chicago)-- Chicago Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19. The positive test comes after the blowout loss against Tampa Bay Sunday. Special Teams Coordinator Chris Tabor will act as head coach while Nagy is out. 

 

(Green Bay) -- The Green Bay Packers have placed receiver Davante Adams on the COVID list after he tested positive for COVID-19. It's unknown if he will be available for Thursday night's game against the undefeated Arizona Cardinals.


 

(Urbana)--The awards are pouring in for The Fighting Illini Football program after the 20-18 upset win over Penn State Saturday. First, the Illini were named National Team of the Week,  Head Coach Bret Bielema was named Dodd Trophy Coach of the week, and RB Chase Brown was named as the Rose Bowl player of the week with 223 rush yards against Penn State. 

 

 

(Urbana)-- Fighting Illini Big Man Kofi Cockburn was voted to the preseason All-America Team. Cockburn was also named to the Abduul-Jabbar watchlist or the best Center in the NCAA. Indiana Big Man Trayce Jackson Davis was also voted as a preseason All-American.

(Chicago)-- The Chicago Bears defense will be without pass rusher Robert Quinn Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Quinn was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list after a positive test Wednesday afternoon.  

 

(Urbana)-- The transfer portal in the NCAA is picking up steam in all sports. The Fighting Illini football team has been taking advantage of the portal this season building and filling the roster. Head Coach Bret Bielema says that most of the reason why the portal is hot, is because of the NIL bill that was passed a few months ago…

PG Andre Cureblo made the list for the first time, entering his sophomore season. Last season, Curbelo earned Big Ten 6th Man of the Year, and was the University of Illinois Freshman Athlete of the Year. 

 

(Kansas)--The Nascar Cup Series Playoffs continues from Kansas City this weekend. The surface at Kansas City was repaved around 10 years ago, and Driver Joey Logano says that when the track was first repaved, the bottom lanes ran way faster than the top lanes…

(St. Louis)-- In a shocking move, the St. Louis Cardinals fired manager Mike Schildt. Schildt was fired for “philosophical differences” regarding the team's direction. 

 

 

(Chicago)-- The Running back woes continue for the Chicago Bears. The Bears placed RB Damien Williams on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. The Bears said that Willaims did test positive. Chicago will be without David Montgomery and Damien Williams Sunday against the Packers.
