Hall of Fame coach and Broadcaster John Madden has died. He was 85. Madden coached the Oakland Raiders to the AFC Title game 7 times in 10 years winning the Super Bowl in 1976. His analysis and knowledge of the game during broadcasts made him a fan favorite.

(Chicago-jm) – Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball became the team's third player to enter the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols on Sunday, joining forward Alfonzo McKinnie and center Tony Bradley as players sidelined before their game against the Indiana Pacers. They were also without head coach Billy Donovan who is in COVID protocols. The Bulls have had 14 players enter health and safety protocols in December.

(WPXN)-- The NHL announced Tuesday afternoon that all players within the league will not be allowed to participate in the 2022 Olympics. The decision for the NHL and the NHL Players Association cited the ongoing rise in COVID-19 cases.

The Bulls are returning Coby White and Javonte Green from the COVID list Thursday afternoon. Bulls star Zach LaVine, Rookie Ayo Dosunmu and Troy Brown JR will not return until after Christmas. 

 

(Urbana)-- 9 of 22 Illini Football Signees are expected to enroll early at the U of I. Those 9 players will enroll in January and will be able to participate in Winter Workouts. Head Coach Bret Bielema says that these players “will get to install twice.” citing the summer workout period as well.

Some of the headliners for the class this season include LB Jarod Baddie, and Safety Elijah Mc-Contos.  

 

(Chicago)-- The Chicago Bears added another player to the COVID list Wednesday Afternoon. Rookie Right Tackle Larry Borom tested positive and joins 5 other players on the list. They have all been ruled out for Monday Night’s game against the Vikings.

(Chicago)-- The Chicago Bulls have had their next two games postponed. The postponements come from the COVID-19 outbreak and the Bulls adding a 10th player to the COVID list on Monday Afternoon. The two postponed games include the Detroit Pistons tonight and the matchup against the Raptors on the 16th. 

 

(Chicago)-- Former NFL Wide Receiver and Chicago Bear Josh Bellemy has been sentenced to three years in jail. Bellemy illegally obtained $1.12 million in COVID-19 relief funds in 2020.

(Chicago)-- The Chicago Bears will have two offensive players back for Sunday Night Football. Quarterback Justin Fields has been activated off the IR and is expected to start. Wide Receiver Allen Robinson was also activated off IR on Thursday and is expected to start Sunday. 

 

 

(Chicago)-- The Chicago Bulls now have 5 players sidelined due to injury and COVID-19 protocols.  Forward Derrick Jones Jr. was added to the list COVID List on Thursday after a close contact. The Bulls added Jones along with Coby White, Javonte Green, Demar Derozen. Alex Caruso and Patrick Williams are also listed as out with various injuries. 

 

The Illinois volleyball team's run in the NCAA Tournament ended on Thursday (December 9) night as the Illini suffered a 3-0 (12-25, 21-25, 17-25) setback to No. 10 seed and Big Ten Conference foe Nebraska in the NCAA Regional Semifinal in Gregory Gymnasium. The Illini finished the 2021 season with a 22-12 overall record and a 12-8 mark in the Big Ten and made their third NCAA Regional and fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in five seasons under head coach Chris Tamas.
