CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Fighting Illini women's basketball head coach Shauna Green has announced the addition of Ona Riopedre (ON-uh REEOH-peh-dray) to the program. Riopedre - a rising junior - has signed a Big Ten Athletics Aid Agreement with the University of Illinois and is set to join the program this fall 

Riopedre is a Six Foot ' guard from Barcelona, Spain.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The first three game times and broadcast designations for the Illinois football team's 2026 schedule have been set, the Big Ten Conference and its television partners announced Wednesday.

The Fighting Illini's season opener against UAB has been moved to Thursday, Sept. 3, with kickoff from Gies Memorial Stadium slated for 8 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network.  

In Week 2, Illinois hosts defending ACC Champion Duke on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 2:30 p.m. CT, with the matchup between the Illini and the Blue Devils broadcast on FS1.

The following week, the Orange and Blue welcome Southern Illinois to Champaign on Saturday, Sept. 19. Kickoff vs. the Salukis is set for 1 p.m. CT on Peacock.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Incoming Fighting Illini freshman Quentin Coleman has been selected to the 2026 USA Basketball Men's U-18 National Team. He is one of 12 players who will represent the U.S. at the 2026  Men's AmeriCup from June 1-7 in Leon, Mexico. Coleman was chosen for the team following six days of training camp among 32 participants, and 19 finalists, in Colorado Springs, A 6-foot-4-inch, 180-pound guard from St. Louis., Coleman was a first-team MaxPreps All-American, second-team Naismith All-American, Gatorade Missouri Player of the Year, and Saint. CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Fighting Illini women's basketball head coach Shauna Green has announced the addition of Lana Brenjo to the program. Brenjo - a true freshman - has signed a Big Ten Athletics Aid Agreement with the University of Illinois and is set to join the program beginning with the 2026-27 season.

Brenjo is a 6-foot-4-inch center from Nevesinje, Bosnia. She has represented Serbia at the 2024 and 2025 FIBA U18 Women's Eurobasket events as well as the 2023 FIBA U16 Women's European Championship and 2022 FIBA U16 Women's European Division Championship.

(Monticello–jc)  Hunter Brewer drove in four runs on one hit to lead Buckley Dutchmasters past the White Heath Warriors  in game one yesterday in Monticello. The Dutchmasters won game one 13 to 0. Braden Roesch struck out 15 batters on the day. The hurler also gave up zero hits and zero runs over five innings while walking six. Game one was a combined no hitter for the Dutchmaster staff

Brayden Bruens took the loss for the White Heath  Warriors

Buckley Dutchmasters won game two over the White Heath Warriors 10-0 on Sunday in Game 2  at Monticello High School. Buckley Dutchmasters opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to two sacrifice flies. Buckley Dutchmasters first got on the board when Noah Steiner hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Buckley Dutchmasters scored five runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning. Hunter Brewer tripled, scoring one run, Nate Reed doubled, scoring one run, Charles Cambridge drew a walk, scoring one run, Tuff Elson hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Ryker Small doubled, scoring one run.

Alex Bielfeldt earned the win for the Dutchmasters.

The series announced the 41 year old driver passed away Thursday after being hospitalized as a result of a severe illness. Busch was a two time cup champion, ranks 9th in all time Cup Series wins at 63 and holds the record for most combined wins over NASCARs top 3 series at 234.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– Fighting Illini head coach Brad Underwood and the University have agreed to new terms related to his existing six-year contract, Illinois Director of Athletics Josh Whitman announced Today. Underwood's contract, which runs through June 30, 2032, could now extend through June 30, 2036, based on team performance over the next four seasons. The agreement would also include updated financial terms that would solidify Underwood among the highest paid coaches in college basketball. The agreement is pending University of Illinois Board of Trustees approval at its meeting May 21. The men's basketball team is coming off the best NCAA Tournament performance of Underwood's sterling nine-year tenure. Illinois rolled through the South Regional, winning all four games by double figures to claim the regional crown and earn a spot in the 2026 Final Four.

(Champaign–jc)  –Illinois Basketball has secured its latest marquee home-and-home series, scheduling Duke in a two-year agreement. Illinois will travel to Durham this upcoming season, playing at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Duke is coming off a 35-3 campaign and NCAA Elite Eight appearance, along with ACC regular season and tournament titles.The Fighting Illini then host the Blue Devils during the 2027-28 season, with the rematch set for Saturday, Dec. 4, 2027, at State Farm Center. It will mark Duke's first-ever visit to Champaign. Duke leads the all-time series 6-3, including a win in the most recent meeting at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 22, 2025. The Illini, however, have won in their only two previous appearances at Cameron Indoor Stadium, most recently an 83-68 victory on Dec. 8, 2020, during Brad Underwood's fourth season.

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Fighting Illini freshman pitcher Aidan Flinn was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the first time in his career, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon. Flinn fired five scoreless frames while striking out five and allowing only one hit in Illinois' 4-3 win over Northwestern on Saturday night. The Mokena, Illinois, native allowed only two baserunners across his five innings of work. He retired the final nine batters he faced, including back-to-back 1-2-3 innings in the fourth and fifth.
