(Chicago-cf)-- The Chicago Bulls were very aggressive yesterday at the trade deadline. The Bulls picked up Nickola Vucevic, Al Farouq Aminu from the Orlando Magic for Wendell Carter JR, Otto Porter JR, and two future 1st round picks. The Bulls also picked up Moe Wagner(VAGNER) from the Washington Wizards  along with Troy Brown for Daniel Gafford and Chandler Hutchinson. 

 

 

(Chicago-cf)-- Chicago White Sox Left Fielder Eloy Jimenez will miss 5 to 6 months of the upcoming season with a torn pectoral muscle. Jimenez was injured in Tuesdays Spring Training game when he attempted to rob a homerun. It is expected that Rookie Andrew Vaughn will take over Left Field for the South Siders. 

 

 

(Bristol-cf)-- Bristol is this weeks venue for the Nascar Cup Series. Bristol is a short track that has been covered with dirt for the race. Driver Aric Amirola says that it won’t be like typical dirt track racing…

(Chicago-cf)-- The Chicago Bears have signed running back Damien Williams to a one year deal. Williams opted out of the 2020 season with the Kansas City Chiefs, rushed for 498 yards for the Chiefs in 2019 and over 100 in the Super Bowl win against the 49ers. 

 

 

(Indianapolis-cf)-- Wide Receiver T.Y. Hilton signed a one year, $10 million dollar deal to return to the Colts Wednesday afternoon. $8 million of the deal is guaranteed. Hilton has reached the 1,000 yard mark 5 times in his 9 year career with the Colts. 

 

 

(St. Louis-cf)-- The St. Louis Cardinals have announced their opening day starter for the 2021 season. Longtime Red Bird Pitcher Adam Wainwright will start for St. Louis with Yadier Molina behind the plate. That is the 6th time that Molina and Wainwright will kick off a season together. The Cardinals open their season April 1 against the Reds.


 

(Urbana-cf)-- The Fighting Illini Football program has officially kicked off Spring Practice. Head Coach Brett Bielema says that it felt great to get back onto the gridiron in college football for the first time in three years…

(Bristol-cf)-- The Nascar Cup Series will go green at Bristol this Sunday. There is one major change to the Bristol race for the season, it will be on dirt. Driver Martin Truex says he and his team thought about getting into a modified car to get used to racing on dirt, but it wouldn’t do him much good since the race will be in a typical cup car…

(WPXN-cf)-- The NHL Board of Governors has approved a new set of Draft Lottery Rules. There aren’t many new ones going into effect, but the new rules will help last-place teams but restrict perpetual losers from winning multiple draft lotteries. The biggest change will determine the first two picks in the draft rather than having three different lotteries for the first picks. The rules go into effect for next year's draft. 

 

 

(Chicago-cf)-- The Chicago Cubs have announced their Opening Day Starter. Kyle Hednricks will get the start for the second year in a row of the North Siders. The Cubs open their season April 11 at Wrigley Field against the Pittsburgh Pirates. 

 

 

(Green Bay-cf)-- The Green Bay Packers have not altered Quarterback Aaron Rodgers deal this past Friday. The Packers did pay $6.8 million in a roster bonus rather than converting that money into a signing bonus which would have freed up $4.5 million in salary cap space for the Packers this offseason. 

 

 

(Paxton-cf)-- The PBL Volleyball team will take on Saint Joseph tonight in the middle of a packed week for the Panthers. Head Coach Lindsay Stallaway says that she's looking forward to the matchups this week with the way that the girls are playing…

(WPXN-cf)-- NBA Basketball legend Elgin Baylor passed away yesterday at the age of 86. Baylor was an 11 time all star and a 10 time all NBA Selection during his time with the Lakers. Baylor was the Rookie of the Year in 1958-59. Baylor also made 8 NBA Finals appearances. After his playing career, Baylor served in the LA Clippers front office from 1986 to 2009. 

 

 

(Chicago-cf)-- The Blackhawks could receive some much needed depth soon. Hawks Forward Kirby Dach, who broke his wrist in the World Juniors for Team Canada will now travel with the team. Dach was able to practice without limitations on Monday.

(Chicago-cf)-- The Chicago Bears have signed Quarterback Andy Dalton to a one year $10 million dollar deal. Dalton has a chance to earn an extra year in his contract with the Bears based on performance. 


 

(Chicago-cf)-- Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez is not in a “rush” to extend with the Cubs. The 2018 MVP runner-up has backed off his suggestion last month that he would set a deadline to avoid the distraction of negotiations during the season. 

 

 

(WPXN-cf)-- PGA superstar Tiger Woods is entering back into the video game market. Tiger signed a long-term deal with the 2K video game series marking his return to an industry he has dominated in the past with EA Sports. Woods was a partner with EA Sports for 15 years, before he was dropped in 2013.

(Indianapolis-cf)-- The Fighting Illni are the 2021 Big Ten Champions. 40 minutes was not enough yesterday as Ohio State forced overtime. The Illini are a 1 seed along with Gonzaga, Baylor, and Michigan. A total of 9 Big Ten Teams earned bids for this year's March Madness Tournament. The Illini will play 16 seed Drexel Friday. (Gilman-cf)-- The Iroquois West Football program has made a schedule change. The Raiders first game was scheduled for Saturday March 20 against Clifton Central, but was going to be played at the Bloomington-Central Catholic turf field. Clifton Central has moved that game back to their school, and it will now be played Friday March 19th at 7.

Campbell a sophomore, played in 12 games last season which included 11 starts behind the plate for the Illini. Campbell has been ranked No. 13 MLB Draft prospect in the Big Ten. A total of 69 catchers made the watchlist.

(Urbana-cf)-- The Big Ten has released this year's Men’s Basketball awards. The Fighting Illini had a numerous amount of players win awards including: 

Trent Fraizer: All-Defensive Team/Honorable Mention All-Big Ten 

Andre Curbelo: All Freshman Team/Sixth Man of the Year 

Kofi Cockburn: First Team All Big Ten/ Sporting News Second Team All-American 

Ayo Dosunmu: First Team All Big Ten/Sporting News Unanimous First Team All-American. 

Iowa’s Luka Garza was Big Ten Player of the Year, while Michigan Head Coach Juwaun Howard was Big Ten Coach of the Year. 

 

 

(Chicago-cf)-- The Chicago Bears have reportedly used their Franchise Tag on Wide Receiver Allen Robinson. If Robinson signs the tag, we will earn $18 million next season. In other Bears news, offensive Lineman Kyle Long has announced that he will come out of retirement. The Chicago Bears still have the rights to Long’s contract for one more season. 

 

 

(Urbana-cf)-- The University of Illinois has announced that season tickets are now available for the 2021 Illini Football season. Season tickets can be renewed, or purchased at Fightingillini.com. Prices for the 2021 season will remain the same as the 2020.

(Bloomington-cf)-- The IHSA has announced that there will be a state series for this year's summer season. That includes Baseball, Softball, and Track. There will not be Football, or volleyball state series under current mitigations, the release said. Also, the IHSA has upped their capacity limits for summer sports, each venue can now hold 20% capacity rather than 50 people.

Kyle Larson wins at Las Vegas

NASCAR: Kyle Larson won at Las Vegas almost a year after his last race. Coming off a nearly year long suspension, Larson was able to earn a victory for Hendrick Motorsports. Brad Keslowski finished second, followed by Kyle Busch, and Denny Hamlin.

(St. Louis-cf)-- The St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame Ballot has been announced. This year, Steve Carlton, Keith Hernandez, Matt Morris, Edgar Renteria, and Lee Smith will be on this year's ballot.
