(Urbana-cf)-- The Fighting Illini Men’s Basketball program will have another player returning from last season. Da’Monte Williams announced on social media Wednesday afternoon that he will return for one more season. Williams, like Trent Fraizer, have one year of eligibility remaining. 

 

 

(WPXN-cf)-- The Nascar Cup Series will introduce a new format for this year's All-Star race. This year's race at Texas Motorspeedway will be a 6 round, 100 lap format. The race winner will collect $900,000 and an additional $100,000 will be awarded to the fastest pit crew on a mandatory stop near the end of the race. 

 

 

(WPXN-cf)-- The first round of the NFL Draft will take place tonight starting at 7. The Jacksonville Jaguars have this year's first overall pick, and are expected to draft Clemson QB Trevor Lawerence. The Chicago Bears will have their first pick at 20, followed by the Indianapolis Colts at 21, and Green Bay Packers at 29. These may change if any draft night trades are initiated. 

 

 

(Urbana-cf)-- The Fighting Illini Football program added another quarterback to the roster yesterday afternoon. Artur Sitkowski committed to the Illini Wednesday. Sitkowski started for Rutgers last season, and has up to three years of eligibility remaining due to the pandemic. Sitkowski would be entering his senior season. 

 

 

(Urbana-cf)-- Fighting Illini Tight End and Carlinville native Luke Ford was recruited by  Bret Bilemea when he was the head coach at Wisconsin, but chose to go to Georgia. Ford, who transferred home two seasons ago, says that it’s come full circle with Bielema…

(Chicago-cf)-- Longtime Chicago Blackhawk defenseman Andrew Shaw retired Monday Afternoon after battling concussions throughout his career. Shaw suffered another head injury Feb. 9 against the Dallas Stars where doctors advised him to retire to maintain his health. Shaw won two Stanley Cups with the Hawks in 2013 and 2015 during his 10 year career. 


 

(Talladega-cf)-- 2020 brought a lot of rule changes for Nascar. Talladega Super Speedway winner Brad Keslowski says one of the biggest changes is the teams not being allowed to work on the engines. Keslowski says that Chevy has put a lot of effort into building them for the 2021 season…

(Milford-cf)-- Milford Bearcats Senior Trey Totheroh has signed his letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Cornell. Cornell College, a Division III school in Mount Vernon, Iowa participates in the Midwest Conference. Totheroh finishes his career at Milford as the all-time assists leader with 434 while scoring 820 points with 523 rebounds.

(Urbana-cf)-- The Fighting Illini Men’s Basketball team has announced they will be participating in another MTE or multi-team event. The Hall of Fame Classic will be played in November in Kansas City, and will feature Arkansas, Cincinnati, and Kansas State. The event will coordinate with the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame induction Celebration for the class of 2021.

(Urbana-cf)-- The Fighting Illini Men’s Basketball team will see another player enter the transfer portal. Center Jermaine Hamlin announced his intent to transfer on Tuesday night on social media. Hamlin, a Bolingbrook native has been with the Illini since 2019 and has 23 total points in 24 games. Hamlin played 24 minutes last season. 

 

 

(Urbana-cf)-- The Fighting Illini Men’s Basketball Coaching staff are hitting the transfer portal hard. The Illini received another commitment from Utah State transfer Alfonso Plummer, and Head Coach Brad Underwood says the staff thinks he is the best shooter in the portal…

(Milford--jc)  In our broadcast 8 man football game on Saturday afternoon, the Milford Cissna Park Bearcats defeated Flanagan Cornell Woodland 58 to 20. M-C-P quarterback Trey Totheroh threw for 255 yards and ran for another 159 yards in the win. Milford Cissna Park is now 4 and Oh on the year, heading to Decatur on Friday night. 

 

 

(Paxton-cf)-- The PBL Panther Football team is faced with another cancelation. The Panthers were slated to travel to Oblong this upcoming Friday, but that game has since been canceled. The Panthers are looking for an opponent, stay tuned to WPXN for updates. 

 

 

(Urbana-cf)-- The Fighting Illini Men’s Basketball Team has seen some movement over the weekend. Senior Guard Trent Frazier announced on Instagram that he will return to the Illini for one more season. Sophomore Center Kofi Cockburn announced that he will test the NBA Draft waters as he has declared. Cockburn has not yet hired an agent, meaning he will keep his NCAA Eligibility. 

 

 

(Chicago-cf)-- Chicago White Sox Pitcher Lance Lynn has been placed on the 10 day Injured List. Lynn, who is dealing with shoulder tightness, will miss his scheduled start Wednesday Night.

(WPXN-cf)-- The 2021 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association has announced the Boys All-State Teams.  In Class 1-A, on the All State team include  Iroquois West’s Jack McMillan, On the 2-A All State Basketball team includes St. Joseph-Ogden’s Ty Pence, Prairie Cental’s Trey Bazzell, Jalen Quinn of Tuscola and JT Welch of Bloomington Central Catholic,

Earning Honorable Mention on Class 1-A  include:  Milford’s Trey Totheroh and Fisher's Carson Brozenec, Honorable 2-A All State basketball players include Jacob Shoven of Central-Clifton and  Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvins’s Elijah Tidwell.  The NASCAR Cup Series continued its tour of the short tracks with a visit to the Martinsville Speedway!   The half-mile of mayhem did not disappoint!   Martin Truex Jr.’s win was his 3rd in the last 4 races at the Martinsville Speedway.   He also became the first repeat winner of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season.   Next stop is Richmond Raceway this Sunday for the Toyota Owners 400.   Coverage will begin at 1pm  on WPXN.

(Chicago-cf)-- The Chicago Blackhawks have officially purchased the Rockford Ice Hogs. Rockford has been a minor league affiliate since 2007. The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the IceHogs have agreed to a $32 Million renovation to BMO Harris Arena, which will keep the Ice Hogs in Rockford until 2036.

(Chicago-cf)-- Another Chicago Cubs legend will be memorialized at Wrigley Field. The Cubs announced that Fergie Jenkins will be the next player to get a statue outside the stadium. Jenkins played 10 seasons for the Cubs which included 3 All-Star appearances and a Cy Young in 1971. The statue will be unveiled at the start of the 2022 season. 

 

 

(Urbana-cf)-- Fighting Illini Junior Guard Ayo Dosunmu has declared for the NBA Draft. Dosunmu released yesterday that he has hired an agent who will officially declare. Dosunmu is ranked No. 22 in the ESPN top 100.

(Chicago-cf)-- Chicago White Sox Yermain(YER-MAIN) Mercedes rookie tied a record Saturday Night. Mercedes, who made his debut Friday evening and went 5-5 at the plate, went 3-3 on Saturday as well. He is the first player to start 8-8 since 1900. 

 

 

(Urbana-cf)-- Fighting Illini Jr. Point Guard Ayo Dosunmu won this year's Bob Cousey award. The Cousy award goes to the best point guard in the nation. The last Illini to win the honor was Dee Brown in 2006. Dosunmu also earned USA Today’s player of the Year honors, while becoming a Conesus First Team All American. 

 

 

(Urbana-cf)-- The Fighting Illini Men’s Basketball team has landed its first transfer of the off-season. Florida Center, Omar Payne announced his commitment to the Illini over the weekend on Twitter. Payne averaged 3.8 PPG and 3.5 RPG in 54 games with the Gators.

(Milford-cf)-- The Milford/Cissna Park 8 man football team will not have a game Monday night. The Bearcats scheduled Peoria Heights Monday at 6, but that game has since been canceled. 

 

 

(Urbana-cf)-- Fighting Illini Freshman Point Guard Adam Miller will be entering the transfer portal. Miller made the announcement on Instagram Thursday afternoon. Head Coach Brad Underwood released a statement saying “Adam was a big part of our success this season, starting every game as a freshman and contributing not just on offense but defensively. He has a very bright future ahead, and we wish him all the best.” 

 

 

(Paxton-cf)-- The Panthers of Paxton Buckley Loda defeated the Raiders of Iroquois West 36-7 last night in IHSA football action. In this shortened season it was the Panthers first home game. Coach Josh Pritchard talks about playing at home…
