(Champaign-jm) – Wrestlers from across the state will return to the State Farm Center for the IHSA State Wrestling Championships this week. Over 650 wrestlers from 250 high schools will compete from February 16-18. Fourteen weight classes across three divisions will be represented at the event. Nearly 30,000 visitors are anticipated for the weekend.

(Champaign–jc)  –Former Illinois football players Nick Allegretti and Greg Lewis are Super Bowl champions again. The two helped the Kansas City Chiefs to the Super Bowl LVII title, the organization's second Super Bowl in the last four seasons. Allegretti is an offensive lineman for Kansas City and Lewis is the team's running backs coach. The Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 38-35, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.Allegretti was a two-time team captain and two-time All-Big Ten selection during his Illinois career from 2014-18. Lewis is in his sixth season on staff with Kansas City and second as the running backs coach.

CHAMPAIGN, ILL – The University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics will re-dedicate the Ubben Basketball Complex on February 10 in a ceremony that will highlight the generous support of dozens of the athletic program’s most influential donors. The complex, which serves as the daily home for the Fighting Illini women’s and men’s basketball programs, recently concluded a two-year renovation that doubled the facility’s size, while incorporating the nation’s best technologies and advancements in sports performance, sports medicine, sports science, sports nutrition and basketball training. The $40 million project is being financed completely by DIA’s self-supporting funds, including more than $34 million in private donations pledged to date.

(Champaign–jc)  –  Illinois Volleyball Head Coach Chris Tamas announced the program's spring 2023 slate on Wednesday afternoon. The Fighting Illini are set for three matches including one at Huff Hall. The Orange and Blue open the spring season at home with a match against Eastern Illinois on March 4. The team follows the home match with a road trip to Valmeyer, Ill., for a contest against Lindenwood, on March 25 In the final match of the spring season, Illinois will battle Notre Dame at McAuley High School in Chicago on April 1.
