(Springfield-jm) – Utility regulators at the Illinois Commerce Commission will announce their final decision in the Peoples Gas rate case today. If the ICC approves a draft order issued by an administrative judge, Peoples Gas will get a $7.9 million rate increase. Critics of the request, including Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Illinois PIRG, argued either for no rate increase or for a smaller one.

(Watseka–jc– A Lockport man is facing multiple charges after an attempted traffic stop and chase with police on Tuesday. Iroquois County Sheriff's Police say 30 year old Nicholas Czarny was arrested after a report of a stolen vehicle from the Rankin area on Tuesday. Upon investigation, Iroquois County Deputies attempted to stop Czarny where he failed to pull over. Police pursued Czarny for the next hour and a half, eventually pursuing him on Interstate 57. Czarny was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, DUI, and several driver violations. Czarny also has an outstanding warrant from Ford County. He is being held in the Iroquois County jail in Watseka awaiting his next court appearance.
(Springfield-jm) – Illinois hunters harvested a preliminary statewide record total of 17,208 wild turkeys during the 2024 Illinois spring turkey season. This year’s total compares with the 2023 statewide harvest of 16,123. The previous harvest record total of 16,569, set during the spring season in 2006.

(Champaign-jm) – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced a public meeting open house has been scheduled for June 4, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Champaign Central High School for the purpose of discussing the improvement of US Route 150/ Prospect Avenue from Springfield Avenue to Marketview Drive. All persons interested in this project are invited to attend the meeting. The meeting will be conducted on an informal basis with project displays and other information available for viewing. IDOT representatives will also be available to explain the project, answer individual questions and record comments offered by those in attendance. Particularly, comments regarding bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, and from potentially affected property owners, are encouraged. Preliminary reports, including an engineering analysis with drawings, maps, and aerial photography, will be available for inspection and viewing during the entire time the IDOT representatives are present.

Tens of thousands of race fans are expected to gather at the World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, not only for the Enjoy Illinois 300, but also for several days worth of NASCAR-themed events.
