(Undated-jm) – COVID-19 vaccines were added to the list of recommended childhood immunizations. An independent advisory committee for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention voted unanimously to approve the 2023 Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule that includes the COVID vaccines. They are recommending the 2- or 3-dose primary series and a booster for children 6 months and older. This doesn’t mean that children are necessarily required to be vaccinated against COVID to enroll in school. The CDC says states hold the authority to establish vaccine requirements for school children.
