(Rantoul-jm) – The Illinois Department of Public Health says a downstate daycare worker has monkeypox. The infection of an adult at a daycare in Rantoul is the third case in Champaign County. Illinois Public Health Acting Director Sameer Vohra. Local public health officials will stay in contact with the affected families. The infected person also works in home health care and the one client they came in contact with is also being monitored.

 

(Gilman-jm) – The Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested a man who was witnessed pushing a 4 and 6 year-old out of a moving vehicle.  According to police, on August 3, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of E. Park St. in Gilman for a report that Jesse McGhee of Gilman was seen pushing children out of a moving vehicle. Police report one of the victims sustained injuries from the incident.  Officers say McGhee fled the scene before they arrived, but after further investigation he was located and taken into custody. McGhee was charged with two counts of domestic battery, two counts of reckless conduct, two counts of endangering the life of a child and violation of an order of protection after being served.  McGhee was taken to the Iroquois County Jail where he posted the required bond and released. 

 

(Champaign-jm) – A road in Champaign next to Interstate 74 will be closed to through traffic this week as construction crews build a new storm sewer for the highway. Weather permitting, Anthony Drive will be closing today between Dale and Dobbins Drives and will reopen on Saturday.

(Champaign-jm) – Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup has released the name of a man killed in a crash in Champaign late Thursday night. Northrup says 34 year old Jovan Smith died at the scene near Kenwood Drive and Kirby Avenue. Police say Smith was driving on Kenwood Drive when he lost control and crashed into a tree.

(Champaign-jm) –  A fallen officer mobile memorial wall rolled into Champaign.  Beyond the Call of Duty's End of Watch Ride to Remember mobile wall parked in front of the Champaign Police Department on Saturday. The wall had photos of fallen officers including Champaign officer Chris Oberheim.. 

 

 

(Urbana-jm) – An Urbana man on probation for possessing a stolen vehicle has been charged with another vehicle theft. Craig Brown was arrested after police were called to Urbana Middle School because a van belonging to a vendor of the school was reported missing. Brown was allegedly seen on school surveillance video entering the school when it was closed, going into the office and taking the keys for the van. At the time of his arrest, Brown still allegedly had the keys to the stolen van on him. Bond was set at $5,000.

(Champaign-jm) – Champaign Police were called to a shooting early Friday morning. Police were called to the area of west Church and north Prairie Streets around 2:15 am. Police say a fight escalated and ended with one person shot and the suspect is in custody.
