Lottery Spokesperson Lorell Lynch. Mega Millions tickets cost two dollars each and you can add a “Megaplier” for an extra buck to boost any non-jackpot winnings. The largest grand prize ever won in Mega Millions was one and a half billion dollars in 2018.

 

(Monticello-jm) – An Illinois State Trooper was hurt Wednesday morning when their car was hit by a truck while on duty. The crash happened in Monticello at Kirby Medical Center just after 7 a.m. State Police officials said a semi-truck was backing out of a private drive across Medical Center Drive to a construction site when the truck hit the side of the Trooper’s car. The Trooper was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be ok. The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt, but he was ticketed for Improper Backing and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash.

 

(Champaign-jm) – Champaign Police responded to a car crash near Centennial Park. Champaign Police confirmed the car was stolen when it crashed into a tree in the area of Sangamon and Crescent Drives. Witnesses said two men got out and ran away, ignoring their offers of assistance. Anyone with information is asked to call Champaign police.

 

(Iroquois Fair-tr) – The Iroquois County Fair runs through Sunday just outside Crescent City. Iroquois County Fair Secretary Pat Ward says the sale of livestock, usually held on Sunday, will instead take place on Friday…

(Watseka-jm) – A Watseka man is dead following a crash on Route 24 on Tuesday night. 22 year old Ryan Durflinger was on a motorcycle when he collided with a semi. Durflinger was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

(Champaign-jm) – In order to install a rooftop unit at 9 E. University Avenue, Roland Realty will close an eastbound lane of University Avenue between Neil Street and Walnut Street. The closure will occur between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26. During the closure, eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in the area.

Families planning to use their Bright Start college savings to cover costs should log into their account, select “transact online” and then “withdrawal.” Users will be asked what kind of withdrawal they want to make, says Treasurer Spokesperson Erik Krol…

 

 

State Treasurer Spokesperson Erik Krol. Some schools require the money to be transferred electronically and you will need your student’s college ID number. Krol says it’s best to start the process early to ensure payment is received on time.

 

(Champaign-jm) – Champaign County first responders will be holding a joint training exercise this Friday at Centennial High School. The exercise will begin at 8 a.m. and will conclude at approximately 2 p.m. People living near the school can expect to see an increased police presence with multiple first responder vehicles. The exercise will include the use of training weapons and non-projectile blank rounds. The blanks will only be used inside the school, but may be heard from the outside. People are advised to stay away from the area to allow first responders to have the space to properly conduct their exercise. The school and its parking lots will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic, but Crescent Drive will remain open.

 

(Champaign-jm) – One downtown Champaign bar announced it will close its doors in August.  In a post on their social media, Stix Arcade Bar credited their demise to the pandemic, opening a little more than a month before COVID-19 stay-at-home orders shuttered bars state-wide.  Stix has yet to announce an official closing day.

(Oakwood-jm) – Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden has identified the victim of a traffic accident on I-74 in Oakwood last Friday night. McFadden identified the victim as 52 year old Traci Garcia of St. Joseph. The incident remains under investigation.

 

(Roberts-jm) – The Route 115 railroad crossing in Roberts will be closed coming up August 1st as railroad crews update the crossing. The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Illinois Central Railroad crews will begin the work on the crossing August 1st with work expected to be completed in 7 days. A detour will be set up.
