(Highland Park-jm) – Illinois State Police Tuesday released new details involving the man accused of opening fire from a rooftop during an Independence Day celebration near Chicago on Monday. In September 2019, ISP received a clear and present danger report on the suspect, Robert E. Crimo III, from the Highland Park Police Department. The report was related to threats he made against his family. There were no arrests made in the incident and no one, including family, was willing to move forward on a complaint nor did they subsequently provide information on threats or mental health that would have allowed law enforcement to take additional action. Additionally, no Firearms Restraining Order was filed, nor any order of protection. At that time of the incident, Crimo did not have a FOID card to revoke or a pending FOID application to deny, ISP said. Once this determination was made, ISP involvement with the matter was concluded. In December of 2019, at the age of 19, Crimo applied for a FOID card. State police said Crimo was under 21 and the application was sponsored by Crimo's father. At the time of FOID application review in January of 2020, there was insufficient basis to establish a clear and present danger and deny the FOID application. At least seven people were killed and at least 30 others were wounded.

Sales taxes for qualified clothing and school-related items will be reduced from 6.25% to 1.25% from August 5 to 14. (Champaign-jm) – An armed robbery took place at Slim Chickens located off of Neil St in Champaign around 10pm on June 12th. Officials state the man armed with a handgun entered the business, ordered store employees in the office, and forced them to turn over the contents of the safe. The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The male is described as: light skinned black male, between 30-40 years old, wearing blue jeans, white shoes, a black Nike hoodie, and a blue face mask.

(Hoopeston-jm) – Hoopeston fire officials confirm a fire at a vacant factory over the weekend was caused by illegal fireworks. Firefighters from several departments battled the blaze at the former Joan of Arc tomato plant Sunday night. There’s no word on how much damage was done but fire officials say the building needs to be torn down. Investigators continue to look for the cause of the fires in Gibson City and in Watseka.

(Chicago-jm) – Illinois State Police are investigating a mob action incident that took place on Sunday. It happened just before 2 a.m. near Division Street and Elston Avenue in Chicago. ISP says a trooper was driving southbound on I-90 when they noticed traffic congestion on the exit ramp and traffic at a standstill on Division Street and some individuals engaging in reckless driving stunts. According to ISP, a mob of approximately 100 people swarmed the ISP trooper's squad vehicle, jumping on the hood, breaking the windshield, kicking the vehicle, and throwing rocks, bricks, and fireworks.

(Undated-jm) – Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. reported fiscal third-quarter earnings of $289 million. On a per-share basis, the Deerfield, Illinois-based company said it had profit of 33 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 96 cents per share. The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 95 cents per share. The largest U.S. drugstore chain posted revenue of $32.6 billion in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $32.74 billion.
