(Undated-jm) -- The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 4,589 new Coronavirus cases and 17 additional deaths. The seven day positivity rate rose to 4.1 percent. Champaign County reported 100 new cases and 2 additional deaths bringing their total number of cases to 29,250 and deaths to 213. Ford, Iroquois and Vermilion Counties did not have a report Tuesday.

(Champaign-jm) -- According to the Champaign County Association of REALTORS, home sales hit a record high during the month of October.  Realtors say home sales in Champaign County sold quickly in October due to the upswing in the demand for residential homes with a total of 286 residential home sales reported. Reports show that is a 4.38 percent increase over the 274 homes sold in October of 2020. Year-to-date sales through October of 2021 are on track to end the year ahead of last year’s total number as sales are up 8.49 percent ahead of 2020 totals. $165,000 was the median home sale price in October for the Champaign County area, which realtors say is down 1.35 percent from $167,250 in October of 2020.

The Central Illinois Farm Toy Show will take place Thanksgiving weekend at the Holiday Inn & Suites in Bloomington across from the airport. Dealers will be set up with farm yoys and memorabilia for sale. Friday the show is open from 5-9, Saturday from 9-5, and Sunday from 8-2. 

 

Cissna Park’s small Town Christmas event will take place on Friday and Saturday November 26 & 27. Friday, there will be caroling in the park at 6pm and around downtown. Stores will be open until 8pm.  On Saturday, Santa will be at Steiner Furniture from 10-2. You can take a horse drawn carriage ride around the park from 1-4. Activities for the kids from 2-3 at the Cissna Park Library. The lighted Christmas parade will take place at 5pm and Stores will be open until 8pm.

(Undated-jm) -- The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency is investing over $29 million dollars in wastewater and drinking water projects in the first quarter of fiscal year 2022 including a project in Iroquois County. The village of Loda is receiving 1 million dollars to construct a new 70,000 gallon groundwater storage tank and upgrades to the existing plant.
