(Springfield-jm) -- Two new laws update sex education in Illinois schools. Under the first law, schools that teach sex edu will have to use a revamped curriculum. Lessons will be for all grades and cover things like healthy relationships, violence, consent, gender identity, stds, sexual health, sexual orientation and communication, depending on the age of the students. (Gibson City-jm) -- Gibson City will receive $7.5 million in bonds for capital improvement projects in the city. The bonds will be issued through Heartland Bank. $5.5 million will go towards the construction of the new pool while the other $2 million will go towards other projects.

 

 

(Paxton-jm) -- Hudson Drug in Paxton will hold a COVID-19 vaccine clinic next week. The clinic will be held on Wednesday, September 1st from 3-5 pm at the Paxton firehouse. Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson will be available. Visit hudson covid 19 dot com to sign up.

(Hoopeston-jm) -- Hoopeston firefighters are investigating a suspicious fire. A police officer on patrol in the 100 block of W. Thompson found the fire and reported it. Fire crews came and extinguished the fire.

 

(Rantoul--jc)  --  The 20-21 Half Century of Progress Farm Show begins this morning. Gates open at 7, flag raising at 8am.  The grounds at the Rantoul airport will see field demonstrations, tractor parades, lots of food, the Band Baick Paiges and more. The 4 day event runs through Sunday at the Rantoul airport. WPXN will be broadcast live over the noon hour today as part of our summer fun tour.

(Loda-jm) -- The village of Loda has secured funding for their new water tower. The village received a $550,000 grant. Anything over that will be covered by a loan from the state EPA.

 

 

(Gibson City-jm) -- Gibson City police have released their recent activity report. On August 11th Trey Jean of Sibley was arrested for driving on a suspended license. On August 13th Andrew Lage of Gibson City was arrested for battery.

(Urbana-jm) -- A Paxton man is facing drug and weapons charges in Champaign County following a traffic stop in Urbana. Damian Wilson is charged with possession of meth and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Bond was set at $50,000.
