Tornado touches down near Fisher Monday

State Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener. 50 percent of corn is silking and one percent is in the dough stage. The condition of the corn crop dropped to 60 percent in good to excellent condition, down from 65 percent the previous week. 95 percent of winter wheat has been harvested and the second cutting of alfalfa is now 79 percent complete. Average statewide topsoil moisture is rated as five percent very short, 16 percent short, 60 percent adequate and 19 percent surplus.

(Rural Fisher-jm) -- The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down near Fisher Monday. The tornado touched down north of Fisher and caused damage to a farm.

(Champaign-jm) -- OSF HealthCare and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign are proud to announce an important expansion of the SHIELD-CU COVID-19 testing program. Starting July 14, 2021, some SHIELD CU COVID-19 testing sites will expand to Parkland College in Champaign. Parkland will offer SHIELD CU testing to the wider community in addition to its students, faculty and staff.

(Springfield-jm) -- The condition of Illinois corn and soybean crops have declined a bit as we hear in the weekly crop report. 48 percent of soybeans are blooming and six percent are setting pods. 56 percent of the crop is rated in good to excellent condition, down seven points from the previous week. 50 percent of corn is silking, compared to 45 percent for the five year average, says State Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener…
