The recent heavy rains could have an impact on the crops

(Champaign County-jm) -- A Fisher man is dead and two others were injured following an accident in Champaign County over the weekend. Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup says 48 year old David Wisehart died at Carle Hospital Saturday night from blunt force trauma. Northrup says Wisehart was driving on 1700 East near county road 3275 North when he swerved to miss a deer and collided with another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

 

(Rantoul --jc)  -- Last night at approximately 8:18 pm, Rantoul Police Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of South. Maplewood Drive in Rantoul, for multiple reports of a shooting. Callers reported two juveniles had been shot. Officers arrived on scene and located a 15-year-old female and a 7-year-old female who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries to their lower extremities. Three other subjects, two 25-year-old males and one 41-year-old male, were found to have sustained grazing wounds from the shooting. The two juvenile females were transported to the hospital for treatment. The three male subjects suffering from grazing wounds refused transport, and were unwilling to provide any additional information. Multiple witnesses reported an SUV drove by the residence and a subject within the SUV shot the victims. The SUV was last observed driving south on Maplewood Dr. The description of the SUV was incomplete. Rantoul police continue to investigate this incident. (Paxton-jm) -- Paxton first responders were called to a single vehicle rollover accident on the northwest side Friday. Crews were called to the accident near 600 N. and 1900 East just before noon. No word on if there were any injuries.

(Springfield-jm) -- The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office is offering some tips for safe summer grilling. More than 10 thousand home fires across the US are started by a grill each year. That’s why it’s so important to take a few precautions, says Fire Marshal Spokesperson JC Fultz. That includes only using gas and charcoal grills outside and never leaving them unattended…

(Rantoul-jm) -- Rantoul is getting another hotel. The village announced Friday a development agreement has been reached by a developer to build a Hampton Inn by Hilton. The hotel would feature 80 guest rooms, indoor pool, a meeting room and outdoor patio.The agreement is pending village board approval. The village did not say where the new hotel will be built.

(Ford County-jm) -- Ford County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 6 traffic accidents and issued 18 citations for speeding during the month of June. Deputies also issued 2 citations for driving on a suspended or revoked license and 1 each for DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol. Deputies responded to 7 custody disputes, 6 reports each of harassment and domestic issues, 5 thefts, 3 each of fraud and suspicious persons, 2 each of burglary, abuse and suicide threat and 1 each of vandalism, trespassing, phone scam, missing person, hit and run, criminal damage and death investigation.
