The Illinois Department of Transportation is warning about fake emails and texts seeking personal information

(Vermilion County-jm) --  Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy filed a lawsuit against a utility company over the unlawful disposal of coal ash. Raoul and Lacy filed the suit against Dynegy Midwest Generation, LLC over the unlawful disposal of coal ash at the site of the former Vermilion Power Station, which led to groundwater pollution surrounding the coal power plant. Dynegy owns the property in Oakwood, Illinois, where the coal-fired Vermilion Power Station operated until November 2011.

(Paxton-jm) -- A Rantoul man is behind bars in the Ford County Jail after Paxton police arrested him following a traffic stop. Police stopped 30 year old Jon Browder just before 9 pm on Tuesday, June 15th after an officer clocked him driving 105 mph on U-S 45 near Green Street. Officers caught up to him a couple miles south of town where they discovered 9 grams of meth and syringes and pipes containing meth residue. Browder was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and aggravated speeding.

(Sibley-jm) -- Five Sibley area residents are dropping their appeal of the building permits for the Ford Ridge Wind Farm. The residents filed the appeal after the counties zoning officer approved the permits. Apex Clean Energy, the developer of the wind farm, hopes to start construction this summer.

(Iroquois County-jm) -- The Iroquois County Public Health Department is offering tips to prevent mosquito bites this summer. The health department recommends using insect repellent with Deet, wear long sleeved shirts and pants when outside during peak mosquito hours, stay inside during peak mosquito hours and remove mosquito habitats including standing water from around your home.

 

 

(Bloomington-jm) -- Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington is announcing Frontier Airlines will be adding nonstop flights to Las Vegas starting in August starting at $49. The flights will be twice a week starting August 12th.
