Governor J-B Pritzker is signing legislation creating new political boundaries in Illinois for the next 10 years

(Iroquois County-jm) -- Two people are dead following a crash in Iroquois County over the weekend. Illinois State Police say the accident happened on Route 49 near Woodworth around 6:30 Friday evening. Troopers say a car driven by Rickey Lane of Danville was traveling north on Route 49 when it was struck by a car driven by a 51 year old from Glendale Heights. Police say that driver and a passenger in Lane’s vehicle were killed. Lane’s vehicle caught fire and he was airlifted to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

 

 

(Springfield-jm) -- Governor J-B Pritzker is signing legislation creating new political boundaries in Illinois for the next 10 years. The new maps outline districts for state lawmakers, the Cook County Board of Review and the State Supreme Court, reflecting the diversity of Illinois, says the Governor. But Republicans are criticizing the maps, saying they were only drawn by the Democrats, not an independent commission as the GOP proposed…

(Melvin-jm) -- Four young ladies are vying for the title of Miss Ford County. The girls competing are Jolee Hastings, Lyndi Allen, Kassidy Marshall and Tabitha JaBaay. The fair queen pageant will take place on Monday, June 14th at 7pm.

(Undated-jm) -- The Illinois Department of Employment Security announced unemployment numbers in metro areas around the state were down in April compared to last April. In Champaign County, the unemployment rate in April was 5 percent, down from 11 percent in April 2020. In Ford County the unemployment rate went from 11.9 to 4.1. Vermilion County went from 17 percent to 6.5 percent. Iroquois County went from 11.3 percent to 4.6 percent.

(Champaign-jm) -- A Champaign teen is dead following a weekend shooting. Coroner Duane Northrup says 17 year old Quansay Markham died from multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy is scheduled for today.

(Ford County-jm) -- The Ford County Sheriff’s Office released their May activity report. During the month, deputies issued 23 citations for speeding, 2 each for DUI and operating an uninsured motor vehicle and 1 each for defective windshield, unlicensed driver, improper lane usage, disregard for a stop sign and failure to reduce speed. Deputies also handled 13 custody disputes, 5 domestic issues, 2 each of theft, missing person, harassment and fraud and 1 each of fight in progress, burglary, vandalism and person with a weapon.
