Illinois Public Health Director Dr Ngozi Ezike. Nearly 10 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far in Illinois, with more than 35 percent of the population now fully vaccinated. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,424 new Coronavirus cases and 12 additional deaths Monday bringing the state’s total number of cases to 1,356,391 and deaths to 22,235. Locally Ford County reported 1 new case bringing their total to 1,773. Iroquois County reported 13 new cases bringing their total to 3,010. Champaign County reported 62 new cases and 1 additional death bringing their total number of cases to 20,534 and deaths to 146. Vermilion County reported 16 new cases bringing their total to 9,397.

Average statewide topsoil moisture is rated as one percent very short, 10 percent short, 63 percent adequate and 26 percent surplus.

In Rantoul at 6, village board members are expected to approve a contract for upgrades to the Forum Fitness Center and approve an engineering agreement for the Wastewater Facilities capital improvement plan. At 7 in Paxton, city council members are expected to approve Mayor Bill Ingold’s appointment to ward 4 alderman, approve an IT contract with MCS, approve a street repair bid with Iroquois Paving and consider additional class c and e liquor licenses.

 

 

(Springfield-jm) -- A push to create fair legislative maps through an independent commission may be stalling. In Illinois, lawmakers are tasked with drawing legislative maps based off of census data every 10 years. (Savoy-jm) -- Construction is underway at Willard Airport in Savoy. The airport received just over $12 million in federal funding to redo runway lighting, pavement and markings. The work is expected to be completed by October.

At 6 in Danville, the Vermilion County board is expected to approve a resolution in support of keeping wind and solar farm regulations at the county level and approve funds for a pair of bridge replacements. At 7 in St. Joseph, village board members are expected to consider a food truck ordinance and hear an update on the village manager search.
