Illinois Governor J-B Pritzker. Governor Pritzker says more than four point two million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far in Illinois. Looking at the latest numbers, the state reported 1,655 new cases and 17 additional deaths Wednesday bringing the state’s total number of cases to 1,213,765 and deaths to 20,988. Locally, Ford County reported 5 new cases bringing their total to 1,626. Iroquois County reported no new cases Wednesday. Champaign County reported a data error and as a result removed 129 confirmed cases bringing their total down to 18,496. Vermilion County reported 14 new cases and 1 additional death bringing their total number of cases to 8,718 and deaths to 122.

(Champaign County-jm) -- Governor J-B Pritzker is announcing another round of $250 million in Rebuild Illinois funds have been released for transportation projects around the state. Looking at funds coming to Champaign County and communities within the county...Champaign County is receiving $962,449. As for communities...Fisher is receiving $20,660, Champaign $890,307, Gifford $10,709, Ludlow $4,075, Urbana $453,089, Mahomet $92,265, Rantoul $142,143, St. Joseph $43,573 and Thomasboro $12,367.

 

 

(Champaign County-jm) -- Champaign County could lose state money after a delay in submitting the county’s audit. The county auditor missed the deadline to submit to the state. The state may stop making payments for grants like LIHEAP and rent assistance. The loss of funding could impact other departments.

 

Taking a look at the numbers from Wednesday, Illinois is now up to 1,213,765 cases and 20,988 deaths after the state reported 1,655 new cases and 17 additional deaths. Champaign County reported a data error that brought their recovered case total down to 18,143, 219 are in isolation and 8 are hospitalized. Iroquois County’s numbers remain the same with 2,742 released from isolation, 11 in isolation and 1 is hospitalized. Vermilion County reported 263 active cases and 4 are hospitalized. Ford County is unable to report local active and recovered cases at this time.

(Danville-jm) -- Danville Area Community College is raising tuition this fall. The board of trustees approved a $5 per credit hour increase. It will now cost students $145 per credit hour.

(Undated-jm) -- The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is awarding grants for pheasant habitat projects. Pheasants Forever is receiving $125,876 to hire four bird biologists that cover projects in 26 counties including Ford, Iroquois, Vermilion and Champaign Counties.

 

 

(Urbana-jm) -- The grandstand lineup for the Champaign County Fair has been announced. Country music star Gary Allen will perform on July 22nd with up and coming artist Travis Denning opening. The Beach Boys will perform on July 23rd. They were originally scheduled to perform last year before the fair was canceled because of the pandemic. Tickets go on sale Friday.
