(Champaign-jm) -- Parkland College, in collaboration with the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation, the University of Illinois Research Park, regional manufacturers, and community partners, has submitted a bid to become the site of a $7.5 million manufacturing training academy through a grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Governor JB Pritzker announced the program in Champaign County in late October during a tour of local of manufacturers. If awarded, the Parkland Manufacturing Training Academy would be built as an expansion of the Parkhill Applied Technology Center, located on the northwest corner of the college’s campus.

The state board says the “Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning Standards” aim to prepare educators to teach a diverse group of students and make all kids feel like they belong. Shamar Betts made a facebook post on May 31st saying Riot at Marketplace Mall and encouraging people to show up with bricks and other items.
