The Champaign County Clerk's office is closed this week after an employee was exposed to the Coronavirus

(Rantoul-jm) -- Two Rantoul men have been federally indicted on child pornography charges. 25 year old William Armstrong is charged with 1 count each of transportation and possession of child pornography. Officers say Armstrong allegedly had 30 videos of child pornography and engaged in sexual activity with minors. 55 year old Dwayne White is charged with 2 counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. If convicted of the transportation or distribution charges they face 5-20 years each. If convicted of possession they face up to 10 years in prison. 

 

 

(Urbana-jm) -- The Champaign County Clerk’s office is closed this week after an employee was exposed to the Coronavirus. The office says they will use the week to clean the office and test employees. All previously scheduled appointments for this week will be rescheduled.

(Undated-jm) -- Two more area events have been canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. The 2020 Paxton Swine n Dine and the 2020 Clinton Apple n Pork Festival has been canceled. Swine n Dine was scheduled to take place September 19th. Apple n Pork takes place the last full weekend in September. 

 

 

(Undated-jm) -- Severe weather Saturday night brought down trees and power lines causing damage and people to lose power. Ameren Illinois reported power outages in Iroquois, McLean, Livingston and Champaign Counties. In Farmer City strong winds sent a light pole crashing through the stands at the Farmer City Raceway. In Chenoa in McLean County strong winds damaged part of an elevator.

(Rantoul-jm) -- The Rantoul Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the patriotic porches and panes winners. 1st place was Eagle’s View Supportive Living, 2nd place was WhitNicole Creations and 3rd place was Anywhere Anytime Journeys. 

 

 

(Rantoul-jm) -- A Rantoul man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually molesting a child in April. 32 year old Romeo Andres received the sentence after pleading guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. A second count was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
 

 

(Rantoul-jm) -- A Rantoul man has been sentenced to two years probation after pleading guilty to beating a man with a baseball bat in December. Nicholas McMahon received the sentence after pleading guilty to aggravated battery with a deadly weapon for the December 24th attack at a home on Eater Drive. In exchange for his plea, a more serious charge of home invasion was dismissed.

 

 

(Rantoul-cf)-- The Happ Parker Aquatic facility in Rantoul is now open in Phase 4. The pool can hold 501 people at a time says Rantoul Rec. Department Director Luke Humphrey…

(Champaign-jm) -- Goodwill in Champaign will soon reopen. The store and donation center is set to reopen at 10 a.m. today. The location temporarily closed on July 6 after an employee tested positive for COVID-19 before coming to work. Goodwill in Champaign will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

 

 

(Champaign-jm) -- Parkland College is reopening select student service focused offices today. Admissions and the Financial Aid offices will be open from 7:30 to 5 Monday through Thursday.

(Watseka-jm) -- Iroquois Memorial Hospice has received national recognition. The hospice was named one of Strategic Healthcare Programs Superior Performance Caregiver Satisfaction Awards. The award is given to the top 20 percent hospice facilities in the country.

 

 

(Champaign County-cf)-- With temperatures now in the 90’s and heat index’s in the 100’s now would be a good time for a rain shower for corn and soybeans in the area. Champaign County Farm Bureau Manager Brad Uken describes how we could use that shower… 

 

 

Temperatures have also remained the same during the night time hours as well. Uken would like to see the heat subside overnight to take some of the stress off the corn crop…
