Ford County is reporting their 2nd confirmed case of COVID-19

(Undated-jm) -- Ford County is reporting their 2nd confirmed case of COVID-19. The latest is a man in his 80s. Champaign County is reporting 7 new cases of COVID-19 bringing their total to 63. The county is also reporting their first death, a man in his 80s. Iroquois County has 7 total cases, McLean County has 48 total cases, Livingston County has 10 cases, Vermilion County 5 cases and Kankakee County 86 cases. McLean County has reported 2 deaths while Kankakee County has reported 5 deaths.

 

 

(Springfield-jm) -- As the weather warms, the Illinois Department of Public Health is urging people to still stay home and practice social distancing. One thousand six new cases are being reported, and 33 more patients have died. State Public Health Director Ngozi Ezike says people need to continue to stay home, no matter how nice it is outside…

(Springfield-jm) -- Illinois SNAP recipients will start getting their maximum benefit amounts. According to the Illinois Department of Human Services over 450 thousand Illinois households will start receiving additional benefits today. All those eligible should receive them by April 20th. The full amounts are for April and May.

 

 

(Springfield-jm) -- Illinois farm fields are still fairly wet as we hear in the first weekly crop report of the season. Average statewide topsoil moisture for the past week is rated at 71 percent adequate and 29 percent surplus says Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener…

(Undated-jm) -- If you go to Walmart be prepared to potentially stand in line longer. The store is limiting the number of customers inside due to COVID-19. No more than 5 customers per 1000 square feet will be allowed inside at a time. Also, customers will only be allowed to enter and exit from one entrance. Walmart joins Target and Home Depot as national retailers setting restrictions.

 

 

(Champaign County-jm) -- Ruth Wyman has conceded the circuit judge nomination race. Wyman decided not to seek a discovery recount after the vote retabulation last week showed 6 precincts and one early voting precinct showed no change in votes. Ramona Sullivan defeated Ruth Wyman in the March primary by a vote of 9674 to 9435. Sullivan will face off against Cheire Kisler in November.

(Champaign-jm) -- Two Carle locations in Champaign County are designated for respiratory treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting Monday Carle Urbana on Windsor and Carle Mahomet will be open only to patients with symptoms of COVID-19 and other seasonal respiratory illnesses. Carle Urbana on Windsor dedicated Respiratory Treatment Center (RTC) will be open daily, including holidays, until further notice. Their hours of operations are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Carle Mahomet dedicated RTC will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

 

 

(Springfield-jm) -- Governor J-B Pritzker says the state wants to make sure essential workers have access to child care. More than 550 child care centers and over 15 hundred home daycares are currently operating under the state’s emergency license program. Governor Pritzker reminds that a one time stipend is available to these providers…

(Springfield-jm) -- After reports about essential workers being stopped by public health workers or law enforcement, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is asking governors who have put residents under stay-at-home orders to distribute an official document to show that a worker’s status is essential. Gov. J.B. Pritzker has already said essential workers in Illinois don't need any documentation. Earlier in March, Gov. J.B. Pritzker was asked about if essential Illinois workers needed some sort of documentation from employers. He said that wasn’t necessary.

 

 

 

(Gibson City-jm) -- Gibson Area Hospital is announcing stricter visitor restrictions because of COVID-19. All visitors and patients will be screened upon arrival. No visitors under the age of 12 will be allowed, only one visitor per patient per day and isolation patients will not be allowed any visitors.

 

 

(Rantoul-jm) -- The Rantoul Public Library will be offering temporary library cards to residents who don’t already have one due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Those interested are asked to call the Library at 893-3955 and leave a message.

 

 

 

(Buckley-cf)-- Due to the social distancing guidelines that were set by the CDC, many Easter Egg hunts will not happen this year. However, the village of Buckley has had a surge of participants hiding eggs around town for kids to still enjoy the tradition. Buckley Resident Kari Stachura gives us the details…

(Urbana-jm) -- The Champaign County Courthouse will continue to run on limited operations through April 30. The courthouse will stay closed for regular business until May 1. Mandatory hearing and court proceedings will take place via video when possible. All other proceedings will be continued generally. There is no need to file motions to continue. Felony pretrial hearings have been continued to the next pretrial date when the courthouse reopens. Notice for new dates will be mailed.
