(Champaign–jc) –The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced Wednesday that Fighting Illini senior Andrej Stojakovic is one of 20 watch-list candidates for the 2027 Julius Erving Award. Named after the Class of 1993 Hall of Famer and 17-year professional basketball player, the Julius Erving Award celebrates its 12th year by recognizing the top small forwards in Division I men's college basketball.
Stojakovic was the team's second-leading scorer in his first year as an Illini last season, averaging 13.5 points on 50% shooting
(Champaign–jc) Illinois Women’s basketball player Berry Wallace has earned a place on the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Award 20-player preseason watchlist presented by the Naismith Awards announced on Wednesday, October 28.
Wallace was one of 20 forwards nationally and one of five Big Ten student-athletes to be recognized on the preseason watch list. Wallace enters her third season with the Fighting Illini after starting all 34 games, while averaging 18.4 points, 6.2 rebounds a year ago.
