CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois defensive back Xavier Scott announced he will return to the Fighting Illini in 2026. Scott was a Paycom Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist as one of the top 15 defensive backs in college football in 2024. His 2025 season was cut short prior to the Big Ten season when he was injured in Week 3 against Western Michigan. Scott has played in 39 games with 28 starts at Illinois
