(Urbana–jc) Illinois head coach Bret Bielema was named to the American Heart Association's Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year watch list, the award's committee announced. Bielema has led the Illini to a 5-2 overall record entering their off weekend. Illinois has played the #4 strength of schedule in the nation and the #1 most difficult schedule in the Big Ten, according to ESPN. The Bear Bryant Coach of the Year award is given each January to a college football coach for contributions that make the sport better for athletes and fans alike by demonstrating grit, integrity, and a winning approach to coaching and life – both on and off the field.

(Urbana–jc) University of Illinois Women's Tennis continues to host the 2025 I-T-A Midwest Regional Championships through Tuesday at the Atkins Tennis Center. All eight Illini will compete in the event through a combination of singles and doubles play. The single-elimination tournament is one of four events during Illinois' fall schedule that serves as a qualifier for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in November.
