CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois wrestler Lucas Byrd was named to the 2024-25 Academic All-America Men's At-Large First Team by the College Sports Communicators on Wednesday. The recognition marks the first CSC Academic All-America selection for Byrd and the fourth for an Illini wrestler in the program's history Byrd had a stellar senior season in the Orange and Blue wrestling in 24 matches last season, carrying a 23-1 record en route to winning both NCAA and Big Ten titles

The recognition marks the first CSC Academic All-America selection for Voois and the third for an Illini men's golfer in the program's history.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini women's basketball freshman Cearah Parchment has been named to Canada's roster for the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup. The games start on Saturday in Europe. Parchment is a 6-3 forward who hails from Whitby, Ontario, Canada.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois Head Men's Basketball Coach Brad Underwood announced Wednesday the addition of Kevin Kruger to the Fighting Illini staff as Assistant to the Head Coach. Kruger returns to Champaign, where he lived for four years and played two seasons at Centennial High School while his father, 2022 College Basketball Hall of Famer Lon Kruger, served as head coach of the Fighting Illini program.
