Cissna Park (30-3) wins the St. Thomas More tournament on Saturday October 14 defeating Payson Seymour (25-14, 25-10), Galena (27-25, 27-25), and Mt. Pulaski (25-19, 25-16) in pool play.  In the semi-final the Timberwolves defeated Tri-Valley 25-23, 25-23 and then defeated Trinity River Forest 25-18, 25-21 for the Championship.

 

NASCAR 

Kyle Larson used a spectacular mid race save, got a lightning fast final pit stop, then held off Christopher Bell at the las vegas Motor Speedway finish line to become the first driver locked into NASCAR’s Championship finale.Kyle Busch finished 3rd, followed by Brad Keselowski and Ross Chastain. All three were eliminated last week.

 

(Maryland–jc)  The University of Illinois Fighting Illini football team got a big road win on Saturday at Maryland.  The final score was 27 to 24. U of I Football Coach Bret Bielema says the team was focused during practice last week and that was  a big reason for the win…
