The Buckley Dutchmasters won a pair of close games on Sunday at Schiewe Field in Buckley over the Paxton Swedes. In the first game the Swedes took a huge 5 to nothing lead in the top of the first inning. The Dutchmasters scored crooked numbers in the 2nd, third and 4th innings to take a 7 to 6 lead. The Swedes scored single runs in the top of the 6th and 7th to retake the lead at 8 to 7. The Dutchmasters tied the game in the bottom of the 6th. Buckley scored twice in the bottom of the 7th for the 10 to 8 win. 

Nate Walker, Drew Schrodt and Evan Regez all had three hits for Buckley

It was good pitching in the nitecap at Buckley on Sunday. Both teams scored a single run in the 4th inning and Buckley scratched across a run in the top of the 6th for a 2 to 1 win.

The Royal Giants took a pair from Arcola  by scores of 13 to 3 and 12 to nothing. There are two more weeks of the regular season left for E. I. Baseball.

 

Golf

Cameron Smith was unstoppable Sunday shooting 8 under par 64 to win the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews. He beat Tiger Woods lowest score 19 under at St. Andrews in 2000 and  tied the tournament scoring record at 20 under. He joins Jack Nicklaus as the only men to claim the Players Championship and The Open in the same year.

 

NASCAR

Christopher Bell is the 14th driver to earn a spot in the 16 driver playoff field after he won the Ambetter 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He held off Chase Elliott for the win. Bubba Wallace was third, followed by Martin Truex Jr. and Kevin Harvick.
