(Undated–jc) The Tuscola Lady Warriors are the state champions in the 1-A state track meet finals over the weekend. St Joe Ogdens Savannah Franzen finished 6th overall in the girls 1600. Paxton Buckley Loda’s Trixie Johnson finished 4th in the 800 in the state finals at Charleston. The St Joe Ogdgen 4 by 400 relay finished 9th at state, The St Joe Ogden girls 4 by 800 relay of Ava Knap, Cloe Burkhalter, Kaitlyn Ingram and Savannah Franzen finished 4th at state. Peyton Carter of St Joe Ogden finished 8th in the pole vault.
In the girls 2-A State at Charleston, Kayla Nelson of Unity finished 6th in the 200 meter final. Rantoul’s Briana Dixon was 2nd in the 100 meter 2-A Hurdles. Dixon also finished 4th in the 300 meter hurdles. Unity’s Jospephine Cler, Emily Decker, Ashlyn Denney and Adriana Pruitt finished 4th in the 4 by 800 relay finals. Justin Thomas was seven shots back of the lead heading into the final round of the PGA Championship before firing a 3 under par 67 to put himself into playoff position with Will Zalatoris. Thomas then went on to win the 3 hole playoff to earn him his second major, after winning the Championship in 2017.
