Chase Elliot wins the NASCAR Cup Series Championship

Cross Country

PBL was well represented in the ShaZam Division I Cross Country Championships on Friday. ShaZam Racing put on the event after the IHSA canceled its state meet. Ryder James placed 4th in the boys division. Trixie Johnson finished 23rd in the girls division. Both received medals. Ashton Goss also participated in the boys division and finished 59th. 

 

NFL Scores this Weekend: 

The Chicago Bears are now 5-4 after losing to the Titans 24-17. 

 

The Indianapolis Colts also lost yesterday to the Ravens 24-10  bringing their record to 5-3 

 

NCAA: 

The Fighting Illini were missing 16 players due to contact tracing, positive COVID tests and injury, which showed in the 41-14 loss to Minnesota Saturday. Illinois is now 0-3 on the year. The Illini head to Rutgers Saturday. 

 

(Undated-jm) -- There is a change in the top spot in the college football rankings. Alabama takes over the top spot after Clemson lost to Notre Dame Saturday. With that win Notre Dame jumps to 2nd, Ohio State remains at #3 and Clemson falls to 4th and Texas A&M jumps to #5. Indiana is up to #10, Wisconsin is down to #13, Northwestern enters the top 25 poll coming in at #23. Michigan dropped out of the top #25. Purdue and Maryland each received some votes but not enough to be ranked.

(Phoenix-jm) -- Chase Elliott is the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion after winning Sunday's season finale at Phoenix. Elliott held off fellow title contenders Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin. 

 

 

Jimmie Johnson, in his final race in NASCAR, came home fifth. Elliot is the  3rd youngest driver to win a Nascar Championship.
