Cubs win, Cards split, Sox lose

MLB Scores: 

Javy Baez hit a walk off single to right field last night in the bottom of the tenth inning. The Cubs beat Cleveland 3-2. The Cubs are 30-20 on the year.

 

The St. Louis Cardinals split a doubleheader with the Brewers yesterday afternoon. The Cards took game one 4-2 with the help of  Tyler O’Neil and Brad Miller home runs. The Brewers took game two 6-0. The Cards are 22-23 on the year.

 

Jose Abreu was responsible for the only run for the Whie Sox last night. Abreu hit a homer in the 4th inning, as the Sox fell to the Twins 5-1. The White Sox are 32-17 on the year. 

 

 

(WPXN-cf)-- With all three MLB clubs in the WPXN listening area(Cubs, White Sox, Cardinals) each has around 11 games remaining for the season. As it sits right now, The Chicago Cubs remain in first place with a 5 game lead in the NL Central, St. Louis is 5 games back, tied with the Reds for second place. The Chicago White Sox are the A.L Central Division Leaders with a three-game lead over Minnesota. The only team to clinch a playoff spot as of now is the L.A Dodgers. 

 

 

(Indianapolis-cf)-- The Big Ten Council of Presidents and Chancellors voted yesterday afternoon to start the 2020 football season October 23rd. There will be an 8 game schedule played, with a chance of a Big Ten school getting into the college football playoff. Each team will undergo rigours and COVID-19 testing, as well as cardiac surveillance. If there is a positive test, there will be a 21-day quarantine period. The NCAA Division 1 Council also announced that college basketball is on track for a November 25 start date. The final decision has not been made, but the “bubble” concept that the NBA and NHL have used has been a point of emphasis. 


 

 

(Chicago-cf)-- Chicago Bears Wide Receiver Allen Robinson told the media yesterday afternoon that his camp did not “demand” trade from the Bears organization. The Bears have not revealed if they will trade Robinson or sign him to an extension even with Robinson telling the media he “feels at home” in Chicago. 

 

 

(New York-cf)-- Today is the start of the 120th US Open from Wingedfoot Golf Course in New York State. The event was supposed to happen June 18-21st, and will be completed on Sunday. The total purse is $12.5 million, with $2.5 million going to first place.
