Cubs lose, Sox win

MLB Scores:

Mike Moustakas hit a 3 run home run last night in the first inning off of Yu Darvish to take a quick 3-0 lead. It was a pitchers duel for the remainder of the game as the Cubs couldn’t get a runner across the plate. The Reds beat the Cubs 3-0.

James McCann hit another long ball last night for the Chicago White Sox in the 5th inning as the Sox went on to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-1.

The St. Louis Cardinals were off.

(Green Bay-cf)-- Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is fine with him and the team “flying under the radar” this preseason. With Tom Brady heading to Tampa Bay, and Rodgers former coach Mike McCarthy becoming the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, there hasn’t been much buzz around the Packers who are returning the same defense as last season. The Packers were one win short of heading to the Super Bowl last season finishing 13-3 in the regular season.

(Phoenix-cf)-- Former Fighting Illini Basketball player Brian Randle has been hired as a  Phoenix Suns assistant coach. Randle, who graduated from Peoria Notre Dame High School, agreed to take the position yesterday afternoon. Randle played for the Fighting Illini from 2003 to 2008, after taking a medical redshirt in the ‘04-’05 season. Randle was an assistant coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves last season.

(Kansas City-cf)-- Tonight is the start of the NFL football regular season. The Houston Texans are in Kansas City to take on the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs at 7:20. The Chicago Bears play the Detroit Lions in Detroit at 12:00 Sunday, the Green Bay Packers take on the Minnesota Vikings also at Noon and the Indianapolis Colts will play the Jacksonville Jaguars at noon on Sunday.
