Illinois upsets No. 5 Michigan 71-62

Kofi Cockburn had 19 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks to help Illinois upset No. 5 Michigan 71-62. The 7-foot freshman from Jamaica dominated the game from the opening tip, making two dunks that brought the crowd to its feet. Ayo Dosunmu added 14 points, Adres Feliz had 13 and Giorgi Bezhanishvili 12 for Illinois.

 

NBA

Zach LaVine scored 35 points in three quarters, as the Chicago Bulls snapped a three-game losing streak with a 136-102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. 

 

MLB

Ken “Hawk" Harrelson has won the National Baseball Hall of Fame's Ford C. Frick award for excellence in broadcasting. The 78-year-old was an outfielder and first baseman from 1963-71 for the Kansas City Athletics, Boston, Cleveland and Washington. He started broadcasting for the Red Sox in 1975 and called Chicago White Sox games for 34 of his 43 years in the booth. He retired after the 2018 season. Harrelson is a five-time Emmy Award winner. He will be recognized at the Hall in Cooperstown, New York, during an awards presentation on July 25.
