What’s next for Illinois Football?
The Illini are going bowling as we all know. The Illini clinched their first bowl game since 2014 when the Illini went to Dallas(after going 6-6 under Tim Beckman) and getting blown out 35-18 by Louisiana Tech. Illinois has the exact same record entering this bowl season, and hopefully, the result won’t be the same. I have been very lucky that in my first season working for WPXN that they are going to a bowl game and I have been along for the ride the entire way. Here are the predictions for where the Illini are going to go:
The RedBox Bowl in Santa Clara, California. That’s right, the Illini are California Dreamin’. According to all the experts at ESPN that’s where they have the Illini going but we will figure that out this Sunday afternoon when the Bowl committee will make all of their selections.
As much fun as it is to head to Cali for a bowl game during the Midwest winter months, I was secretly hoping that they would end up in Detroit so I could attend. Without the personal reasons, I’m glad that the Illini are heading back to a bowl and making that coach Lovie Smith is getting the winning culture back to the Orange and Blue.
