Champaign. – Fighting Illini head coach Lovie Smith announced Tuesday morning that LB Jake Hansen (defense), LB Dele Harding (defense), P Blake Hayes (special teams), OL Doug Kramer (offense) and OL Alex Palczewski (offense) have been voted team captains for the 2019 season. The captains were determined by a vote of Illini players. Illinois kicks off the 2019 season on Saturday when Akron comes to Memorial Stadium .
