Gary Woodland Captured His First Major Golf Championship With the U.S. Open

The Los Angeles Dodgers rallied to beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2.

 

The Cardinals managed just three hits and still beat the Mets, 4-3 on Paul Goldschmidt’s  two-run homer and Paul DeJong’s tiebreaking solo homer in the eighth inning.

 

The New York Yankees cruised past the Chicago White Sox 10-3.

(Undated--jc) -- The Gifflats of Gifford scored two runs in the top of the 9th inning on Sunday at Schiewe Field in Buckley to take the first game 3 to 2.  In game two, the Gifflats scored in the top of the first to take a one to nothing lead. The home Dutchmasters scored two in the bottom of the 2nd and took a comfortable lead into the 7th with a 7 run 5th inning. Gifford came back in the top of the 7th with 5 runs, but the Dutchmasters won game two 9 to 6.

 

The Paxton Swedes beat the El Paso Warriors 10-2 & 5-4.

 

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) _ Gary Woodland has captured his first major golf championship by holding off the two-time defending U.S. Open champion.

Woodland closed with a 30-foot putt for birdie to finish three strokes ahead of Brooks Koepka (KEHP’-kah) in the Open at Pebble Beach. The Kansas native shot a 2-under 69 on Sunday for a 13 under total.

 

 

Friday night at the Farmer City Raceway saw Mike Glasscock win Late Models, Donovan Lodge won the Modified event, Pro Lates was won by Logan Moody, Jason Maier won Street Stocks, Jeremy Hancock won Hornets.
