Several Area Coaches to be Honored by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association

IHSA Softball

PBL def Centennial 15-2

Baylee Cosgrove had 3 hits and 5 RBI

 

Watseka def Iroquois West 18-1

Kennedy Bauer tripled twice and had 2 RBI

 

Danville def Rantoul 10-4

 

St. Joe Ogden def Prairie Central 14-3

Kaylee Ward had a grand slam and 6 RBI

Katie Poulter also hit a homerun

 

Fisher def Cerro Gordo/Bement 19-2

Kylee Bishop and Sydney Hood each had 2 hits, 2 RBI and 3 Runs

 

Armstrong Potomac def St. Thomas More 10-4

Grace Reynolds had 3 hits

 

IHSA Baseball

Central Clifton def Cissna Park 8-4

 

Watseka def iroquois West 5-3

Ben Lyznicki had 2 hits, 2 RBI, and 2 Runs

 

St. Joe Ogden def GCMS 11-0

Crayton Burnett had 2 hits and 3 RBI and also pitched the shutout with 13 strikeouts

 

Cerro Gordo/Bement def Fisher 4-3


 

MLB

José Quintana earned his third straight win by limiting the Dodgers to a pair of runs and four hits over seven innings of the Cubs' 7-2 victory.

 

Paul DeJong hit a tiebreaking, leadoff homer in the eighth inning to push the Cardinals past the Brewers, 4-3.

 

Orioles ended a four-game slide by beating the White Sox 9-1.

 

Several area basketball coaches will be honored by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association at an upcoming banquet. Boys Coaches selected were  Kevin Long of Cissna Park, Ryan Tompkins of GCMS. Girls coaches were Keri Dornbusch of GCMS, Scot Ghere of Ridgeview, Kevin Taylor of St. Joe Ogden, and Barry Bauer of Watseka. Joining those coaches were several area Jr. High Coaches. They are Anthony Videka, Cissna Park Seventh grade girls, Bill Mulvaney, Gifford eighth grade girls, and Chase Gilliland, Prairieview-Ogden seventh grade boys.
