The Chicago Bears have signed Free Agent wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. The Bears and Ginn Jr. reached a one year deal earlier today. Ginn in his career had 15,685 all-purpose yards which include over 5,000 receiving yards, and 42 total touchdowns in his career.
This is a huge signing for the Bears with Taylor Gabriel leaving in free agency, the Bears have another very reliable slot receiver that can be used in many other roles as well. Ginn Jr. and Patterson both returning punts, and kicks are arguably the fastest return tandem in the NFL.
Alan Robinson will still no doubt be the top targeted receiver for either Trubisky of Foles, but Ginn will also be close in contention for that top spot for targets with the Robinson. The Bears have needed a better receiving core since Trubiskiys first start, and they have built a decent one at that. As mentioned Ginn and Robinson, you add Jimmy Graham who doesn’t have father time on his side, can still catch passes and is a huge target in the red zone. Add rookie Cole Kmet, another tight end who can run block very well, and catch passes there are now a plethora of options for the QB who wins the starting role in Chicago this upcoming season.
