More summer events are getting cancelled because of the Coronavirus

(Undated-jm) -- Locally, Ford County is reporting 1 new case bringing their total to 12 cases. Iroquois County is reporting 27 new cases bringing their total to 78 cases. Champaign County is reporting 9 new cases bringing their total to 217 cases. Vermilion County is reporting 1 new case bringing their total number of cases to 26. McLean County is reporting 4 new cases bringing their total to 108. Livingston County is reporting 1 new case bringing their total to 24. Kankakee County is reporting 29 new cases bringing their total to 507. Governor Pritzker will hold his daily briefing at 2:30, we will have the latest tonight on our news at 4 and 5.

 

 

(Champaign County-jm) -- Champaign County reported 9 new cases Wednesday bringing the county’s total up to 217. Rantoul has 5 new cases bringing their total to 48. Ludlow is also reporting a new case bringing their total to 2. Rantoul Foods, the site of a recent outbreak of cases, reported 2 new cases Wednesday bringing their total number of cases to 49 at the facility.

SPRINGFIELD — The novel coronavirus pandemic’s historic impact on Illinois warrants Governor JB Pritzker’s stay-at-home order, four state health care advocacy organizations argue in a court filing. The Illinois Health and Hospital Association, Illinois State Medical Society, Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing and the state’s chapter of the American Nurses Association have submitted their argument in support of the governor. The groups are challenging two lawsuits filed against the Governor over his authority in issuing continuations of the emergency declaration.

(Undated-jm) -- More summer events are getting cancelled because of the Coronavirus. Saybrook has cancelled their Freedom Festival in late June. Onarga announced they are canceling their 4th of July fireworks. Gilman’s Old Boys and Girls Reunion scheduled for August is also cancelled. They join the Crescent City Fire Ball festival and Fisher’s Lucky Foot Festival among the area activities cancelled this summer.

(Sheldon-jm) -- Firefighters from several departments were called to a house fire in Sheldon. The fire happened in the 100 block of East Main Street. Sheldon firefighters believe the fire started from unattended food on the stove. The fire caused extensive damage however no injuries were reported.

McLean County is reporting 85 have recovered, 2 are hospitalized and 18 are on home isolation. Livingston County is reporting 20 have been released from isolation. Ford County is reporting 7 have been released and 4 are in isolation. Kankakee County is reporting 119 recoveries. Champaign County is reporting 95 active cases, 6 are hospitalized and 116 have recovered. Iroquois County is reporting 21 have recovered, 6 are hospitalized and 50 are on home isolation. (Undated-jm) -- While all the counties in the WPXN listening area reported new cases of the Coronavirus Wednesday, there were no new deaths. Vermilion, Ford, Iroquois and Livingston Counties each have one death. McLean County has 3 deaths, Champaign County has 6 deaths and Kankakee County has 31 deaths.
