It calls for greater enforcement of the revocation laws that have long been ignored. The proposals are a reaction to the fatal shooting in Aurora last month of five people by Gary Martin. As a convicted felon, Martin never should have been allowed to purchase the handgun used in the shooting.Acting State Police Director Brendan Kelly says the federal government must do more to address the incomplete FBI databases and do more back ground checks.

(Springfield--jc) - You have to hand it to the state of Illinois. When it comes to taxing its residents, the state doesn't discriminate. As Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Democratic lawmakers move forward with plans to change the constitution to allow for what they've dubbed a "fair" income tax, a new report indicates that Illinois has been fair when it comes to taxing all income levels in the state. The report from financial website Wallethub, 2019's Best States to Be Rich or Poor from a Tax Perspective, indicates that Illinois ranks second- or third-worst when compared to other U.S. states and Washington D.C. in taxing low-, middle- and high-income wage earners. But it said that the speaker, who has faced criticism for more than a year over his handling of sexual harassment complaints among legislative office and campaign staffs, was not made aware of the incidents at the time. A bill proposed by East Dundee Republican Representative  Allen Skillicorn would instruct the secretary of state’s office to issue only one license plate to drivers, instead of two, for cars, trailers and trucks. The plate would attach to the rear of the vehicle.
