(Paxton-jm) -- Paxton Police handled a two vehicle accident on the south side of the community Tuesday afternoon. Police were called to the accident at Route 45 and Dawn Street around 2pm. Assisting Paxton Police were Gibson Ambulance and Paxton Emergency Management Agency. No injuries were reported.

(Undated-jm) -- The Illinois Student Assistance Commission is releasing the names of area high school students named 2018-2019 state scholars. Today we hi-lite the students from Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School and Cissna Park High School. For PBL: Maya Brust, Joel Deatrick, Madison Grohler, Kody Harrison, Kristopher Hewerdine, Liberty Jamison, Kalista Klann, Logan Knuth, Benjamin McClure, Justus McMillian, Adam McMullin and Cassidi Nuckols. (Rantoul-jm) -- The Village of Rantoul has received a grant. Landmarks Illinois awarded the village a $3,000 Preservation Heritage Fund Grant to help cover a portion of the cost of the feasibility study done on the First National Bank building in downtown Rantoul. The study conducted this fall estimated costs of both demolition and restoration of the building. It’s estimated the cost to demolish the building is between 800 and 900 thousand dollars while it would cost around 2.8 million dollars to renovate.

(Rural Elliott-jm) -- Elliott, Gibson City, Roberts and Melvin firefighters were called to a house fire late Tuesday morning. Firefighters were called to the fire at 816 E. 500 N. just after 11 a.m. No word on the cause of the fire.


 

(Springfield-jm) -- State Treasurer Mike Frerichs says getting any unclaimed property you’re due is now easier and faster than ever. “E-Claiming” lets users upload any documents needed to receive money found through the Treasurer’s I-Cash Program. Additionally, Frerichs says “Fast Track” allows small claims to be quickly approved…
