(Rural Sibley-jm) -- Several area fire departments were called to fight a house fire near Sibley Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters from Sibley, Gibson City, Roberts, Melvin and Elliott were called to fight the fire at 1080 N 600 E. around 3:30. No word on the cause of the fire.

(Undated-jm) -- Illinois Farm Service Agency has a new director. The Trump Administration appointed William Graff as director effective Monday, November 13th. Graff is a farmer from central Illinois and previously served as State Executive Director of the Illinois Farm Service agency under a previous administration.

(Urbana-jm) -- A 15-year-old from Fisher has pleaded guilty to aggravated driving under the influence stemming from a fatal accident near Rantoul earlier this year. The teen admitted that on April 23, she was driving a pickup truck with Damon Moseley of Fisher when the truck rolled several times. Moseley was ejected and died at the scene. The teen admitted she was under the influence of cocaine and cannabis at the time of the accident. She faces probation to juvenile prison but can not be held beyond her 21st birthday.



(Springfield-jm) -- The House and Senate approved a new sexual harassment training program. Lawmakers, their staff and lobbyists will have to go through the training under the measure, which will address what constitutes harassment, how to report problems and what are the consequences for offenders. Representative Kelly Cassidy of Chicago supports the bill and says she hopes the discussion doesn’t end here…

(Thomasboro-jm) -- A decision on a new police chief in Thomasboro is expected later this month. The village board narrowed down the list of candidates to retired Champaign Police officer Robert Rea, Lovington Police Lieutenant Richard Levine and former Hoopeston Police Officer and Sheldon Chief Jeremy Dobkins.

(Loda-jm) -- A decision on dissolving the Loda Sanitary District will go before an Iroquois County judge in 2018. A court hearing has been set for February 7th after Loda declined to accept the terms of a proposed intergovernmental agreement on how the remaining funds would be split. Under the proposal $3,700 would go to Bayles Lake while the remaining $7,436 would go to Loda. However, the village claims they should receive all the money. The sanitary district was formed in 1972 to bring a proposed sanitary system to the area.

(Iroquois County-jm) -- A Loda woman has been arrested on an Iroquois County warrant. According to Iroquois County Sheriff’s police, 33-year-old Katharine Grayson was arrested in Champaign County on an Iroquois County warrant for failing to appear on a writ of body attachment. She remains in the Iroquois County Jail.
