(Undated-jm) -- Attorney General Lisa Madigan is joining 32 other attorney generals who have reached a settlement with Nationwide Insurance over an October 2012 data breach. The breach resulted in 1.27 million consumers having their personal information, including social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, credit scoring information and other personal data, stolen or compromised. Under the settlement, Nationwide will pay $5.5 million to the states included in the settlement, and Illinois will receive more than $280,000.

(Thomasboro-jm) -- Thomasboro village leaders have voted to hire a new full-time police chief instead of contracting with the county. Village board members sought cost estimates for both keeping the current system, employing a part-time chief and three part time officers or contract with the county. Village trustees learned it would cost the village $13,000 a month to contract with the county compared to the $70,000 the village budgets annually under the current system. Current chief Keith Willis announced earlier this year that he will retire in November.

CHICAGO (AP) — Democratic candidate for governor J.B. Pritzker has selected state Rep. Juliana Stratton of Chicago to be his running mate in the 2018 election. The billionaire businessman said Thursday Stratton has "taken on" Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner and will fight for working and middle-class families as his lieutenant governor. Stratton won her first term in office last year with the help of an endorsement from President Barack Obama. Pritzker is among several Democrats looking to unseat Rauner.

(Gibson City-jm) -- C-U at Home’s documentary film, “The Phoenix, Hope is Rising” will hit the big screen at an area theatre. The group announced Thursday that the film will be shown at the Harvest Moon Twin Drive-in in Gibson City on Sunday, August 20th. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. and the film is free of charge and open to the public.
