NFL Draft

Several Fighting Illini football players were selected in the final rounds of the draft over the weekend. Defensive Tackle Johnny Newton was selected by the Washington Commanders in the second round with the overall 36th pick. Offensive Lineman Isaiah Adams and Tight End Tip Reiman went in the third round to the Arizona Cardinals. Wide Receiver Casey Washington went to the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round. Defensive lineman Keith Randolph went undrafted but signed with the Chicago Bears.

 

NASCAR

Denny Hamlin held off a hard charging Kyle Larson over the final laps and wiggled through lapped traffic to win by a quarter of a second at Dover. It was Hamlin’s third win of the season. Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch and Chase Elliott completed the top five.
