(Champaign–-jc) – The Illinois football program finalized Eastern Illinois as its 2024 season-opening opponent. The Fighting Illini and EIU are scheduled to start the season at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, August 31st during Week 1 of the college football season. The Eastern Illinois game will be Illinois’ first at Memorial Stadium during the 100th Anniversary season. Season tickets are on sale now, starting at $100 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary and provide an affordable entry point for all fans.
(Champaign–jc) – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its first round of weekly national rankings on Monday. The Fighting Illini women debut as the national leaders, and the men close out the top-10 rankings at No. 10. This is the first time in program history that either the Fighting Illini men or women have reached the No. 1 spot during the indoor season. The women are led by two national No. 2 marks by juniors Darja Sopova in the triple jump and Tori Thomas in the pole vault . The men are led by senior Tyler Sudduth, who owns the top mark in the country in the weight throw and No. 9 in shot put.
