Illinois beats Penn St. 98-81

The Fighting Illini Men’s Basketball team fought back from a 16 point deficit in the first half against Penn State to win 98-81. Junior Point Guard Ayo Dosunmu was 6 points away from tying his career high, scoring 30 points. Dosunmu was ejected on a double-technical foul with 27 seconds left in the game. Sophomore big man Kofi Cockburn tallied 23 points. Illinois is now 6-3 on the season. The Illini return home for a Saturday matchup against Indiana.

The Chicago Bulls dropped their season opener last night 124-104 against the Atlanta Hawks. Bulls Small Forward Zach LaVine tallied 23 points in 25 minutes while Bulls Center Lauri Markkanen dropped 25. The Bulls host the Pacers Saturday Night. 

 

 

(Chicago)-- White Sox Manager Tony La Russa has resolved the DUI case that was brought against him in February. La Russa said he “feels deep remorse and regret.” 

 

 

(Urbana)- Fighting Illini Senior Lineman Kendrick Green was named to the USA Today Second-Team All- America. Green is the first offensive lineman to win the award since Jon Asamoah in 2009. Green has not yet made a decision on returning for another season for the Illini, or entering the NFL draft. Offensive Lineman Doug Kramer announced that he will return for the 2021 season, after his season was cut short due to a knee injury. 

 

 

(Chicago)- Blackhawks winger Kirby Dach(DOCK) sustained an apparent wrist injury in Team Canada’s exhibition against Russia in the World Juniors Championship. There is no word on Dach’s condition or if he will be ready for the Blackhawks opener Jan. 13
