The Chicago Cubs have regained their share of first place in the National League Central by salvaging the finale of their three-game series in Milwaukee. Kyle Schwarber was the hitting star in the Cubs’ 11-4 mauling of the Brewers, hitting a grand slam and a three-run homer.
The Cardinals were 6-2 losers to the Astros.
The Twins beat the White Sox 11-1.
E. I. Baseball
Tyler Jones and Andy Davis combined for a no hitter in game 1 as the Buckley Dutchmasters beat Game 7 Legacy 6-0. The Dutchamsters won game 2 with a score of 14-1 and clinched the E.I Regular Season title.
The Paxton Swedes split with Gifford Flatville with Paxton taking the first game 8-5 and Gifford Flatville taking the second game 16-5.
Royal took 2 from El Paso 8-1 and 9-4.
Next week’s tournament will be on Sunday with the #1 and #2 seeds hosting.
#1 will play the winner of #4 and #5, while #2 seed will play the winner of #3 and #6.
NASCAR
Denny Hamlin had enough fuel to pull away off the final restart in an overtime finish for his fifth victory at Pocono Raceway. Hamlin raced to his third victory of the season and 34th overall in NASCAR Cup Series race. Hamlin held off teammate Erik Jones, who needed a win to secure a spot in the playoffs. Martin Truex Jr. was third, followed by William Bryon and Kyle Larson.
